If you have an aquarium at your place and is worried about what fish food to provide to ensure that your fish remains healthy and fit for long without any problems, then there are few nutritional facts you need to know about fish. These nutritional facts starts with knowing the kinds of fishes existing, there are herbivores who feed on vegetables, carnivores who eat meat and then there are omnivores who can east just bout anything you put on platter.

One of the most common fish foods is the flake food which most of the people with fish aquarium use to provide as fish food, but one needs to understand that fish does not enjoy it everyday, even though many fish can survive on that throughout their life for e.g. Goldfish. However, it cannot be ignored that it is a balanced diet for fish. If the fishes you have are all of different species than you need to provide frozen food and freeze dried food as well, as varieties are always loved by fish. Other types of worms can be easily cultured. You can buy cultures for White worms and Grindle worms at the local aquarium store. They can be kept in plastic containers of compost and fed with cereal based foods such as bread, oats, porridge and baby foods. These must all be pre-moistened. Other varieties of live food include crickets which are enjoyed by larger fish.

Live food are also preferred by many like earthworms and brine shrimp, but these live food can be dangerous because they tend to contain pathogens which are harmful and may infect or even kill your fish. Live food are the most liked fish food for most of the carnivores fishes but you need to take these food from proper sources to ensure that the food you are getting is disinfected and is healthy enough to be eaten by your fishes.
