Getting Started

Hexagon fish tank sizes are wide and varied and you can get whichever size suits your home or office space best. Once youve bought your hexagon fish tank, you can start setting it up by placing the stand and then putting the aquarium right on top of it. Choose an area which is not too sunny or windy. Thereafter, you can attach the background to the rear area of the tank by taping it to it.

Then you can proceed by thoroughly rinsing all the gravel with water. Do the same for all other aquarium decorations as well. Then its fun time! Add about three inches of gravel to the bottom of the tank; thereafter add the water on top of it. Fill up the tank till about one-fourth of its capacity is reached, then add decorations and plants to it.

Plants And Decorations

For freshwater fish, you can use plants such as Anubias nana or java moss or even java fern. Or if your hexagon fish tank(s) are small, then you can even choose the dwarf Anubias. As the name suggests, these plants are quite literally, dwarves!

They dont grow more than a few inches in height. You could also try and put in some algae. They have great nutritional value for your little fish friends too! When growing aquarium plants for freshwater fish, do keep in mind that the plants grow best when completely submerged!

Decorations can include everything from colourful stones, to pebbles to elaborate decorations constructed from sandstone or marble or even limestone! Try and keep in mind that you need to create an environment most similar to the freshwater environment which your fish prefer.

After putting in the decorations and the plants, do fill up the rest of the tank with the remaining water. But make sure that the water is treated; you dont want to endanger your fish in any way, now do you? After this, its time to do some serious work. You need to install equipment such as filters, thermometers and of course heaters, if youve got tropical fresh water fish.

Thereafter, place the cover on your hexagon fish tank(s) and check whether the light is functioning. In fact, test ALL the equipment in the aquarium to see whether they are functioning and keep it running for about twenty four hours before adding the freshwater fish.

Hexagon tanks are available in many varieties. Youll find cheap hexagon tanks, acrylic hexagon tanks (which are light), glass hexagon tanks and many, many more kinds, you just have to look around! Good luck with your hexagon fish tanks!
